What to expect
Presented at the heart of a historic military landmark, the Napoleon the Strategist exhibition was the perfect way to honor the military genius of the first emperor. Within the walls of this former Invalides complex, the visit begins with a discovery of his many campaigns. In a meteoric rise, Napoleon Bonaparte, an artillery officer turned divisional general and then commander of the Grande Armée, achieved successive victories and built an Empire. Some 200 collection items, along with numerous multimedia presentations, invite visitors to fully immerse themselves in the art of war. Maps, paintings, uniforms, and manuscripts all tell the story of this spirit of conquest and strategic genius. Pyramids, Austerlitz, Jena—these are familiar battle names, and the journey may culminate with a commemorative finale. Indeed, at the Army Museum - Les Invalides, under the Dome Church, lies the monumental tomb of the emperor, surrounded by twelve marble-carved Victories.Opening Hours
